Week 1: DAW Foundations & Beat Fundamentals
Session 1: Welcome to Music Production
- Understanding the role of a music producer in modern music.
- Genres and styles of music you can produce.
- Introduction to FL Studio / Ableton Live.
- What is MIDI, Audio, Loops, Samples, Plugins?
- Your first DAW walkthrough.
Session 2: Setting Up the Studio
- Installing the DAW + exploring basic layouts.
- How to use audio interfaces, MIDI controllers (if any), and headphones.
- Understanding file formats, project saving, BPM, and tempo.
- Shortcuts and efficient navigation.
Session 3: Sound Selection & Tools
- How to choose the right drum kit for your genre.
- Understanding virtual instruments (VSTs).
- Loading samples, instruments, and browsing libraries.
- Introduction to piano roll / step sequencer.
Session 4: Building Your First Drum Loop
- Difference between kicks, snares, claps, hi-hats.
- Arranging a basic 8-bar drum loop.
- Quantization: Making things snap to the beat.
- Listening critically: what makes a loop "groove"?
Week 2: Melody, Harmony & Groove
Session 5: Introduction to Melody Writing
- Understanding musical scales (C Major, A Minor).
- Drawing your first melody.
- How to choose the right instrument sounds.
- Ear training basics: feel vs technical accuracy.
Session 6: Chord Basics Without Music Theory
- Using scale helpers, ghost notes.
- Visual way to identify good chord progressions.
- Building 2-3 chord progressions with melody layering.
Session 7: Basslines & Sub Frequencies
- Low-end theory for beginners.
- Making bass patterns that follow your chord/melody.
- Understanding 808s, subs, and bass sounds.
- Balancing kick and bass together.
Session 8: Building Your First Loop
- Combining drums, chords, melody, and bass.
- Loop structure: 8-bar structure that feels like a song.
- Polish and minor tweaks.
- Playback, critique, and bounce!
Week 3: Arrangement & Mixing Essentials
Session 9: Song Structure & Arrangement
- Arrangement basics: intro, verse, drop, break, outro.
- Copying and pasting loops.
- Creating variation using automation and muting.
- Adding risers, FX, and transitions.
Session 10: Volume Balance & Mixing Basics
- Mixing with ears, not eyes.
- Fader levels, gain staging.
- Panning: placing instruments left and right.
- Checking mono compatibility.
Session 11: Creative FX - EQ, Reverb, Delay
- What is an EQ and why use it?
- Adding reverb for space.
- Delay on snares, vocals, melodies.
- Avoiding muddiness.
Session 12: Finalizing Your Track
- Final playback and critique session.
- Exporting in MP3, WAV.
- File organization for sharing your beat.
- Creating a beat tag or producer tag.
Week 4: Practice, Feedback & Creative Expansion
Session 13: Track Breakdown & Feedback Day
- Each student presents their full track.

- Chopping and flipping samples.
- Using voice samples, vinyl, or free loops.
- Building a mini sampled beat.

- Each team produces a track from scratch.
- Roles assigned: drums, melody, bass, FX.
- Learn teamwork and producer flow.
Session 16: Certification & Graduation Day
- Final playback of all tracks.
